TWI is the world’s foremost research and training organisation for materials joining technology. Operating globally, its experts perform innovative, quality controlled, impartial projects for industry.
Due to continued expansion, we are building a team of experienced technical Proposal Writers to improve the quality and quantity of proposal submissions in the area of Non-Destructive Testing covering sensors, instrumentations, signal and image processing, methods of testing and inspection which are performed without damaging the test subject. As a Proposal Writer you will be authoring and supporting the development, writing, and editing of a variety of materials for proposals concerned with management and technical contributions for collaborative R&D funding.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Improving and developing new and existing compelling baseline content.
  • Maintaining technical and grammatical accuracy of baseline technical content.
  • Working with account leads to assist in organising material, writing proposal inputs to meet requirements and specifications regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  • Editing material for structure, completeness, accuracy, organisational consistency and content.
  • Recommending changes to scope, format and content, restructuring, and rewriting as required.
  • Tailoring standardised content as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Reviewing work of other writers and graphics and production personnel to ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and quality.

Required Attributes:

  • Exceptionally high quality technical writing skills.
  • Educated to at least a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification in a Science or Engineering related discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and working proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Flexibility and capability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Track record in desktop publishing, ability to design, format and produce proposal documents and related materials.
  • Knowledge of creating and enforcing style guides for written work.
  • Knowledge of commercial and public funding proposals (e.g. UK TSB, EC FP7).
  • Superb organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and manage busy schedules.
  • Evidence of successful proposal writing.
  • A passion for writing, an eye for detail and high quality standards.
